Salon Secrets To Flawless Tan
Before Tanning
Exfoliate your body concentrating on elbows, knees and tops of your feet that are prone to dryness. Do not apply moisturiser, perfume, deodorant or make up, as any product residue may hinder the tanning result. Darker coloured swim-wear or underwear would be advisable while tanning. Shaving or waxing is best done at least 2 hours prior to tan.
After Tanning
Wear loose dark clothing while your tan is developing. Do not shower for at least 1 to 2 hours but longer is preferred for best results. When showering we recommmend the use of a body wash and pat dry with a towel. Do not be alarmed if some of the initial bronzer washes off – this is all part of the tanning process. Apply a Body moisturiser twice a day to prolong your tan.
Important Advice
If you have sensitive skin we recommend a small patch test 24 hours prior to your tanning application. It is recommended that you apply SPF protection while in the sun.
What makes you go brown?
The sunless tanner dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is currently the most popular way of gaining a tan-like appearance without sun exposure as it carries less health risks than any of the available methods. To date, it is the only active ingredient approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for sunless tanning.
How does DHA work?
All effective sunless tanners contain DHA. It is a colourless 3 carbon sugar that when applied to the skin causes a chemical reaction with amino acids in the surface cells of the skin producing a darkening effect. DHA does not damage skin as it only affects the outermost cells of the epidermis (stratum corneum).
How is Natural Tan different to other self tanners?
Natural Tan had developed the most advanced formula on the market. Not only does it use the highest levels of DHA available (to give you a deeper more natural tan) the added benefit of collagen not only moisturisers and hydrates the skin, it assists in restoring the skin’s elasticity – a known agent in slowing the signs of aging. How long does it last on your skin?
It usually lasts at least 7 days (sometimes longer) if correct aftercare is followed.
